How to grow bonsai trees
The word “Bonsai” can be considered as an art of “growing miniature trees in pots”. The original word for Bonsai is “pen-Jing”, which is a Chinese word and it means “plant in pot”. Growing miniature trees like a “bonsai tree”, is an ancient Chinese art of growing trees and plants which are usually kept small by skilled pruning. Anyone can grow bonsai tree and it acts as a wonderful gift for children. Any person who has interest and willing to learn the art of growing bonsai tree can go ahead with their goal. It occupies less space and can be considered as a relaxing hobby.
You may be one of them who have just taken a few steps towards growing bonsai. Although you are new at growing bonsai tree, yet you can be rest assured that growing bonsai is going to be an enjoyable experience for you. There are many bonsai styles that is available; such as : Formal upright, slant, informal light, cascade, semi cascade, raft, and group/forest. Bonsai can be related to the tree and the pot. Most of the bonsai and placed in pots which come in variety of shapes and colours. Most of the bonsai are placed in unglazed pots. In order to grow bonsai trees, you need to have the right bonsai tools and equipments, such as : 1) Bonsai pot or container 2) Bonsai seeds 3) Bonsai soil mix 4) Fine gravel 5) Bonsai wire 6) Digging tool and 7) Bonsai shears.
An explanation of the above mentioned items that are needed for growing a bonsai tree, is as follows.
1) Choosing the right pot or container.
It is important to choose the right pot for growing bonsai tree. There are various types of pots that are available and they come in various colors and sizes. Choosing a wrong pot can lessen the tree’s impact. However, a pot that is chosen well will work well towards enhancing the beauty of the bonsai plant.
2) Gather the bonsai seeds.
Once who gather your bonsai seeds, the next important step is to check the quality of the seeds. You should place the seeds into the water for the night in order to perform a test which allows which seeds are potentially viable and which ones are not. The seeds that float are useless, but the ones that will sink are the ones to be used for growing your bonsai tree.
Also, before you are ready with the right set of seeds, you must be ready with a pot that has a depth of 15 cm or 6 inches and the pot should have a hole for drainage facility. One should keep in mind that the first bottom position of the pot should contain an earth mix. The next part of layer should be made of a mixture of potting soil and fine gravel. The potting soil should be about one inch below the pots rim. Now, start inserting the bonsai seeds 1 inch to 2 inches apart. The final part of the layer should consist of composed of a mixture of potting compost and akadama. Get into the habit of using a spray nozzle in order to water the seedbed.
